Wolf & Mishka is a Melbourne-based design label passionate about creating unique hand illustrated printed fashion, accessories and jewellery.
Their approach when designing and producing each collection is slow, with small local production runs while staying waste conscious. “We think very seriously about the amount of fabric we order, print and how many styles are made, keeping our focus on the quality, not quantity and focusing on designing for transeasonal and wardrobe mainstays as opposed to fast, trend driven fashion.”
Wolf & Mishka was founded in 2014 and after working in commercial fashion for many years, Founder Natalia Pye knew the time had come to begin creating something that was her own, with a focus on local production, and not designing for the masses!
Shortly after making this decision she was given a family heirloom – a book of Russian nursery rhymes that had been lovingly created by my great-grandmother almost 100 years ago. A decision was made to create a label focusing on what was special and unique, and like her Russian book, pieces should be made with love and designed to be treasured for years to come.
Wolf & Mishka is committed to creating unique prints to keep you feeling special while working hard to create a positive change. “We support only local businesses, that’s why all elements of our supply chain, from pattern makers to graders, cutters and makers, are in Melbourne. We have strong personal relationships with our makers, and by taking a hands-on approach we can ensure the quality and integrity of our garments. It also means we can be certain all our production practices are ethical. We make a conscious decision to use natural-based fabrics such as organic cotton, silk and linen, recycled hemp as well as utilising biodegradable fabrics such as Tencel.”
