Nue Lingerie is a brand of modern and ethical lingerie designed and produced in their beautiful island home, Bali, Indonesia since 2017. Nue caters to women of all figures and ethnicities and hope to offer pieces that flatter and empower their wearer.
Their minimal silhouettes are both feminine and masculine, and designed for all confident women, from 30 to 60 years old. Like the women they design for, their lingerie is strong and soft, modern and classic, cool and inherently sensual – enhancing femininity while underlining their strength.
All Nue’s lingerie pieces are made of soft and resistant nylon lycra mesh. The panties and bodysuits are lined with delicate silk chiffon for a natural touch.
They don’t use any padding, boning or hooks to ensure that second skin feel and their packaging is even plastic free and reusable; each piece wrapped in a light cotton lingerie bag and posted in a handwoven rattan clutch.
All samples and exclusive stock are currently produced entirely in-house. MaiKhanh, Nue’s creative director and designer, tailors and creates the patterns for every design and Nue’s tailor sews every piece in the studio.
Working with an independent lingerie and swimwear factory which is also based in Bali, they responsibly hire Indonesian women and ensure quality and ethical products.
The new Spring Summer 2019 collection, FOLIES, is inspired by 1920’s cabaret dancers and their tropical island home Bali. The muses for this collection are the megastar Josephine Baker, the innovator Louie Fuller, the mysterious Mala Djamanti, the infamous Carolina Botero and the classic Jeanne Bourgeois. With its simple lines, seductive details and striking Rouge and Jungle colours, their latest designs cater to women’s different styles and shapes. Look out for new colours in Autumn Winter 2019.
MaiKhanh is a French-Vietnamese designer, stylist and photographer, and the founder and creative director of Nue Lingerie.
After being raised between the United States and Asia, she was trained as a designer and tailor in France, then moved to NYC and finally to Bali.
This upbringing has given her a multicultural view of fashion, art, and life.
Women, travel, and history are her main sources of inspiration; MaiKhanh also loves second-skin fabrics, perfectly tailored garments and strong, vibrant colours.
After many years of designing clothing, she decided to focus more on lingerie, particularly as it is unique to a woman’s wardrobe. Like perfume, it’s a gift to herself, to accentuate her femininity and sensuality.
MaiKhanh, naturally becoming more conscious of the fashion industry’s impact on our planet, chose to design essential, beautiful pieces in a responsible way.
